It weakens metals and the molecule is so small it can permeate most materials. Read an excellent article years ago in Popular Mechanics on why it would be difficult to convert from oil to hydrogen as a fuel source. Some of the same issues with storing or using certain metals with hydrogen would probably apply to hard drives.
